About "LOG HOUSE"  (CD/Digital by Wiese-Storm-Caspersen 2020)

Terningkast 5Tor Hammerø, Nettavisen (2021): Finally to the Surface

Trios consisting of two guitars along with oboe and English horn don’t appear every day. It sounds exactly as original and exciting as one might hope—and more besides.

Those with a good memory may recall the fine album “Wiese–Wøllo–Waring”, released in the mid-1980s and reissued on Curling Legs in 2008. At that time, the lineup featured oboe/English horn, guitar, and vibraphone. It sounded unique and captivating—and now the “follow-up” has arrived, sounding at least as exciting.

Once again, it is oboist and horn player Wiese who has composed most of the material. This time, he is joined by two highly accomplished musicians, Håvard Caspersen and Håkon Storm, on various acoustic guitars.

It goes without saying that this sonic landscape sounds unlike almost anything we have previously encountered. It is exceptionally beautiful, highly melodic, very dynamic, and organic—and when these three attentive musicians challenge and complement each other so effectively, “Log House” becomes something truly special. Certainly, we are dealing with three outstanding musicians, but it is the collective expression that appeals to me most. Bold, unique, and indeed very different
